Diagnosis & Quote

Send a photo or we visit. Algae type identified, package matched, written quote in hours. No surprise pricing later.

Visit 1 — Shock & Treat

Heavy debris removal, shock treatment, algaecide application, brush walls. Sets up the chemical kill cycle.

Visit 2 — Vacuum-to-Waste

Dead algae vacuumed out via waste line. Filter backwashed. Chemistry rebalanced and stabilized.

Visits 3–4 (if needed)

Repeat vacuum + chemistry cycles for dark green, yellow, or black algae. Multi-day cycles ensure full kill, not just clear water.

Final Walkthrough

Crystal-clear water confirmed. Chemistry stabilized. We discuss weekly maintenance plan to prevent recurrence.

What Happens After Recovery?

Critical: green-to-clean is a one-time emergency service. Without weekly maintenance, algae returns in 7–14 days during summer.

❌ Without Weekly Service

  • Algae often returns within 7–14 days in summer
  • Chemistry drifts daily without verification
  • Salt cell & filter performance degrades
  • You’ll be back here paying for another recovery
  • Total cost over 12 months: $1,000+ in recoveries

✅ With Weekly Service

  • Algae blooms caught and stopped early
  • Chemistry verified & corrected weekly
  • Equipment monitored for early warnings
  • Digital reports after every visit
  • Starting at $115/mo Cape Coral

Green Pool Cleaning FAQ

Straight answers about pricing, timing, and what to expect during recovery.

How much does green-to-clean pool service cost?
In Cape Coral, green-to-clean recovery starts at $275 for light green (2 visits), $595 for dark green (4 visits), $675 for yellow algae (4 visits), $805 for black algae (4 visits), and $1,080 for black algae with heavy scrub (5 visits). All packages include shock treatment, algaecide, vacuum-to-waste, filter backwash, and full chemistry restoration — chemicals included. Other SWFL cities priced per zone, see the table above.
How fast can you clean a green pool?
Most light green pools are restored to crystal clear within 3–5 days using our 2-visit recovery cycle. Dark green takes 5–7 days with 4 visits. Yellow algae takes 5–7 days. Black algae takes 5–10 days due to specialty chemistry. We respond to green pool emergencies same-week, often same-day for Cape Coral and Fort Myers clients.
What causes a pool to turn green?
Pools turn green when algae spores bloom faster than your sanitizer can kill them. Common SWFL causes: chlorine drop after heavy rain, salt cell failure, low cyanuric acid causing UV burnoff, high phosphate levels feeding algae, broken pool pump or filter, prolonged storm power outages, and skipped weekly maintenance during peak algae season (May–October).
What’s the difference between green, yellow, and black algae?
Green algae is most common and easiest to treat — blooms quickly but responds well to standard shock and algaecide. Yellow algae (mustard algae) is harder to kill and clings to walls, ladders, and shaded areas. Requires specialty algaecide and 4+ visits. Black algae is the hardest — forms hard nodules with deep roots in the plaster, requires wire brushing, chlorine puck spot treatment, and acid wash in severe cases.
Do I need weekly service after recovery?
Yes — strongly recommended. Green-to-clean is a one-time emergency service. To prevent the pool from turning green again, you must enroll in a weekly maintenance plan after recovery. We offer 4 weekly service tiers starting at $115/mo for Cape Coral. Skipping weekly service after recovery commonly results in algae returning within 7–14 days during summer months.
Will I need to drain my pool to remove algae?
In most cases, no. Our standard recovery service treats the pool without draining, using shock treatment, algaecide, vacuum-to-waste cycles, and filter backwash. If algae is extreme, plaster is heavily stained, or chemistry is impossible to balance, we may recommend a full drain & acid wash. That’s a separate service quoted individually starting at $1,690 (matches our Storm Complete Drain & Restart package — includes water truck refill, full chemistry rebuild, and system restart).
Do you guarantee you can fix my green pool?
Yes — for green and yellow algae in standard residential pools. We guarantee water clarity restoration within the included visit cycle for our published packages. Black algae pools and pools with severe equipment failure may require additional visits priced at our hourly rate ($65/hr existing clients, $85/hr non-clients). We disclose any additional charges in advance — never bill surprise fees.
Do you do green-to-clean in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda?
Yes. Pool Armor Pros provides green-to-clean recovery across all of SWFL including Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Sanibel, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, and North Port. Pricing varies slightly by zone — see our pricing table above.
